VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATIO PETROL ENGINE TEST RIG (ETR -14)
The VCR engine is coupled to a loading dynamometer. The Overhead cylinder head made of cast iron is water cooled externally and has an encounter piston above the original piston in the main engine. The counter piston is actuated by a screw rod mechanism and is provided with 5 piston rings on its circumference to withstand the pressure.
The engine is single cylinder four-stroke air cooled with max 2.5HP output at 2800 rpm at normal compression ratio. The compression ratio of the engine is variable from 2.5:1 to 8:1 by raising and lowering the auxiliary piston. The position of the piston inside the cylinder assembly determines the compression ratio of the engine, which can be observed on a pre calibrated compression ration scale.
