Softening Point test apparatus (Ring and Ball apparatus) RASIN make with Digital temperature indicator having Least count 0.1°C and magnetic stirrer
The softening point is the temperature at which the substance attains particular degree of softening under specified conditions of test. For Bitumen, it is usually determined by Ring and Ball test.
The instrument conforms the requirements of IS:1205-1958 and consist:
a. Two steel balls, each having a diameter of 9.5mm.
b. Two tapered rings, made of brass having depth 6.4mm, ID at top 17.5mm, ID at bottom 15.9mm and OD 20.6mm.
c. Two ball centering guides.
d. One ring holder.
e. one Borosil glass beakers having ID 8.5cms and depth 12cms approx.
f. One regulated Electrical stirrer with adjustable shaft.
g. Immersion heater with controller to control rate of heat control @ 5° C per minute mounted on cradle with level sensor and RTD Probe.
h. Bottom mounted magnetic stirrer.
