Vacuum Techniques Chevron Baffles are fitted on top of the diffusion pump. The baffles are made of copper and are water-cooled, but the body is made of SS. The chevron baffle is primarily used to prevent back streaming of oil vapour from the DP to the chamber above. It is optically opaque (i.e. it has no direct line of sight through it)
