- Burettes are vertical cylindrical pieces having volumetric graduation on the entire body, a precision tap, and a stopcock with bore and plug located on the bottom.
- It is used to measure, separate or dispense a considerable amount of liquid reagent during an experiment.
- Burettes are mostly used in Titration experiment owing to its high level accuracy like a 50 cm3 burette has a tolerance of 0.1 cm3 (class B) or 0.06 cm3 (class A).
- These are also used to calibrate the volume of other glassware like cylinders. Usually, Burettes are fabricated from borosilicate glass with PTFE (Teflon) stopcocks.
